Mathematical Programming Methods for Industrial Applications
Mathematical programming can be used as an efficient tool for optimization of various engineering problems. The methodology is especially efficient when applied to combinatorial problems, where the alternative situations by other means would have to be evaluated by hand. The basic ideas and some applications are presented.

We survey three applications of mathematical programming to rea soning under uncertainty a an application of linear programming to probabilistic logic b an application of nonlinear programming to Bayesian logic a combination of Bayesian inference with probabilistic logic and c an application of integer programming to Dempster Shafer theory which is a method of combining evidence from di erent s...
متن کاملPrimal-dual potential reduction methods for semidefinite programming using affine-scaling directions
Copies of these reports may be obtained from the bureau of the Faculty of Technical Math-A selection of these reports is available in PostScript form at the Faculty's anonymous ftp-Abstract Primal{dual aane{scaling methods have recently been extended from linear programming to semideenite programming. We show how to analyse these methods in the framework of potential reduction algorithms. The a...
متن کاملNonsymmetric potential-reduction methods for general cones
In this paper we propose two new nonsymmetric primal-dual potential-reduction methods for conic problems. The methods are based on the primal-dual lifting [5]. This procedure allows to construct a strictly feasible primal-dual pair related by an exact scaling relation even if the cones are not symmetric. It is important that all necessary elements of our methods can be obtained from the standar...
